We currently support over 500+ children attending 3 pre-schools in Malawi: Golden Kids Park Academy, Moana and Future4all. Each pre-school is known to us and we have partnered with teachers and Heads in each of them and visited them on-the-ground in Malawi. Ideally we would like to partner with more pre-schools as the need is so high, but for now we will concentrate on the three pre-schools outlined above.
We’re happy to answer any questions you may have – see the contact page for more details.
To ensure every donation makes the biggest impact we use a transparent, organised
tracking system:
a. Quarterly funding
Each pre-school completes a quarterly application for funding and this is considered by
the Board of Trustees in accordance with Mwana’s grant giving policy.
b. Tracking
All spend is recorded and verified to ensure it matches the pre-school’s approved funding.
Where possible receipts/invoices are shared, and all education resources bought
with donated money are photographed in place, and being used by children at the pre-schools.
c. Prove impact
Working with each of the pre-schools, Mwana closely monitors how donations improve the lives of all children at our partner pre-schools.
Watch out for news stories direct from Malawi by signing up for our quarterly newsletter at the end of this page.
We use the Charity Aid Foundation’s (CAF) platform to process all donations (unless donors donate directly via their own bank).
CAF provides financial services to charities in the UK and distributes over £1 billion annually to charities around the world. If you kindly donate to Mwana, you will see CAF as the recipient on your bank records.
CAF charges 4% fee for one-off donations and 2% for regular donations. There are no other charges or fees so every penny goes direct to Malawi.
Educational resources cost a lot in Malawi compared to what people earn. According to the World Bank, 70% of Malawi’s adult population lives on about $2.10 a day. Although the Malawian Government encourages pre-schools, they do not supply any educational resources. Below is a sample list of the cost -in UK sterling- of how much items cost on average.
Please consider donating what you can – every donation is very much appreciated.
